Cannes Film Festival 2018 Iconic Poster

To say we are ecstatic over the new official 2018 Cannes Film Festival poster would be an understatement!

From our team at Experience The French Riviera, we feel that love is what the world needs more of and this collectible and surely to become an iconic image that will be well regarded for years to come.

Annually, it is with high anticipation (and top secret) as to what image will be reflective not only throughout the upcoming Cannes Film Festival but will also be used in the media worldwide to showcase the weeks of films and events.

For only the second time in the history of the famous film festival, a Jean-Luc Godard movie has inspired the annual Cannes Film Festival poster and this year with an image from his 1965 romance/crime photo from the movie Pierrot Le Fou aptly titled ‘Stolen Kisses’.

Pierrot Le Fou is based on the 1962 novel Obsession and starred Jean-Paul Belmondo and Anna Karina. He’s a TV executive bored by his bourgeois Parisian life that then drops everything and runs off with an old girlfriend (Karina) who’s being chased by hitmen. They take off to the French Riviera via a traveling crime spree.
The last Jean-Luc Godard movie to inspire the Festival de Cannes poster was Contempt (Le Mépris) in 2016.
The festival made mention today in the press conference that the poster featuring Belmondo and Karina is inspired by the work of Georges Pierre, the late still photographer who immortalized the shooting of over 100 films in a 30-year career that began in 1960 with Jacques Rivette, Alain Resnais and Louis Malle.

The poster itself is the work of graphic designer Flore Maquin, a known, passionate film buff who works with Europacorp, Universal Pictures, Wild Side and Arte along with Paramount Channel, revisiting or then creating alternatives for film posters. And this year’s poster and logos are created by Philippe Savoir of Filifox.

The Cannes Film Festival starts on May 8, 2018! If you still require a villa rental, yacht charter, private car service, charter jet, close protection or are interested in tickets to the VIP events that will be taking place during the festival, please connect with us at Experience The French Riviera:  Info@experiencethefrenchriviera.com

Play Bar

Marseille doesn’t always get the attention it should, especially for having the second biggest population in France.

The port city is multi-cultural, steeped in history and always intriguing with an ever growing LGBTQ community to discover.

One gay establishment that has been a part of the community since 2012 is Play Bar. This local hangout is consistently filled with Marseille residents and those visiting the city and is a great place to begin your night out.
Just walking into Play Bar you will feel a sense of camaraderie amongst the staff and patrons. Here, the quarters are small but that tight squeeze just means it’s easier to meet people and even with the dance beats thumping, the crowd is always at relaxed and enjoying themselves.

There are nightly drinks specials along with various weekly events and DJ’s both new to the scene and legendary who set the tone for the evening ahead.
If this is your first time in the colorful, artistic world of Marseille, you’ll be easily inspired by the ultra-cool and edgy people you’ll meet at Play Bar.

The Rose Ball in Monaco 2018!

In 1954, The Rose Ball (officially known as the Bal de la Rose) was created by Princess Grace of Monaco. This annual event is organized every year in the month of March and takes place at the prestigious Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Monte-Carlo.

As in past years, Monaco's royal family slip into their finest attire to attend the grand event which is also known locally as the kick off to the party season in the Principality but more importantly the internationally recognized charity gala raises key funds with all proceeds and other exceptional prizes (sculptures, paintings etc.) going to the Princess Grace Foundation since 1964. This foundation’s vocation is to help people and children in need by developing humanitarian and philanthropic projects.

This exceptional event brings together the elite and international high society for the first important social event of the year, certainly making it the gala to see and be seen.

Currently presided by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince Albert II and H.R.H. Princess Caroline of Hanover, the Rose Ball is a symbol of glamour that maintains the fascinating Monte-Carlo legend that it has helped create. This is certainly an event not to be missed, combining tradition and modern elements created by such legendary designers such as Karl Lagerfeld.
As a fundraiser for the Princess Grace Foundation, this year, the Bal de la Rose takes place on the evening of Saturday, March 24, 2018.
