Autumn in the French Riviera

Summer may have come to an end but the season seems to linger a lot longer in the region during the autumn months.

The French Riviera is truly a year round destination, with on average 300 days of sunshine a year, and it seems now that more and more people are visiting during what is considered the low season.

This is the time to discover the Cote d'Azur, here in autumn, it’s not unusual to still be wearing shorts and a t-shirt both day and night, many of the flowers are still in bloom with new ones thriving within their season, and the main tourist attractions such as the museums and art galleries feel less rushed and more enjoyable.

There are tons of fantastic hiking and biking trails to explore that offer varying ranges of difficulty making it ideal as part of your crossfit plan, of course there are many gyms around but why be outside when you can take advantage of the landscapes, vistas and be along the clear, blue Mediterranean sea.

Prices overall tend to be lower with a strong selection of goods available so break out those credit cards and go shopping at the numerous designer boutiques around. Restaurants and cafes offer more of a sense of relaxation, and are still wonderful for people watching and it also makes it a great time to try out the seasonal local food.

Many people also find the best reason to come here and relax to get away from their hectic life back home; it’s a fantastic way to recharge the soul. There are also those that arrive for writing or yoga retreats or even plan on buying a second home.
The nightlife is as usual still on in the LGBTQ community, making it a prime opportunity to mix and mingle with the locals on an evening out…this is a prime way to network with those that live in the region as well.
The vibe overall is more at ease. There’s no reason to rush, this is your chance to discover the French Riviera for yourself and totally immerse yourself within the surroundings. It’s good for the soul.

Save the Oceans, Save the World!

So you wanna see Madonna. Well, here is your chance!

This year the Monaco Yacht Show joins forces with the Event Committee of the 2nd edition of the Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean that will be held this year on the terraces of Opera Garnier on the opening day of the Monaco Yacht Show, Wednesday 26 September 2018.

Chaired by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean will bring together international artists and renowned philanthropists committed to actions for marine protection.

Organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the event will present an auction of exceptional lots: unique experiences, collection objects and a selection of art pieces signed by the most famous artists to support the Foundation’s initiatives for sustainable oceans.

Since its inception in 2006, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has placed the concerns of the ocean issue at the core of its actions: there needs to be a better understanding of the environmental dangers that oceans are coping with, fighting against plastic pollution, protecting threatened species, promoting new and sustainable solutions for oceans, reinforcing and developing the protected marine areas.

And this year, there is a long list of celebrities who will be in attendance.

The Monte Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean announced the impressive list of celebrities who will serve as Event Chairs and Co-Chairs for the 2018 Gala, lending their names and support to the evening, to engage for the future of a sustainable ocean alongside the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

Presided by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, a Head of State deeply involved with the protection of the environment and a global leader in the battle to save the ocean, and hosted by Global Fundraising Chairman Milutin Gatsby, renowned philanthropist and initiator of this event, the 2018 Monte Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean includes as Event Chairs, Madonna, Adrien Brody, Orlando Bloom, Andy Garcia, Pierce Brosnan, Goldie Hawn, Hugh Grant, Eva Longoria, Olga Kurylenko, Robert F Kennedy Jr, Diane Lane and Chris Tucker.
With an exceptional auction led by Simon de Pury, the proceeds of the Gala will support the Foundation’s priority marine programmes: plastic pollution, scientific studies on acidification, coral protection, marine protected areas, endangered species and innovative technologies.

The inaugural 2017 Gala also enabled the Foundation to implement 37 new marine conservation projects around the world and 2 programmes to fight against plastic pollution.
